Ralph E. Archer, 79, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Laurels Nursing Home in Steubenville, OH.Ralph was born January 19, 1930 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Harley L. and Ida B. (McGrew) Archer. Ralph was an employee and part owner of George W. Cattrell and Sons in Toronto, OH. He was a member of the First Westminster Church in Steubenville, OH and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Toronto, OH and Bell Chapel Church of Pleasant Hill where he was very active in Church activities. Ralph was also a graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School. Ralph was also a former Chief of the Toronto Vol. Fire Dept. for about 10 years and was a member of Local 490/495 Plumbers, Pipefitters and Welders. Ralph served his country in the Naval Reserves for 10 years as a Petty Officer First Class. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Ann M. Archer whom he married on June 4, 1953 and whom passed away August 31, 1992 and his brother Clyde Irvin Archer.Ralph is survived by his son, Dr. Robert E. Archer and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Archer and their two children Christina Ann and Ryan Edward Archer of Toronto. Ralph is also survived by his brother Clarance Archer of Bentonville, AK.Visitation for Ralph will be held on Tuesday, January 19 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH where Ralph's Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 20 at 11am with the Rev. Jason Elliot officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
