Ralph A. Boyd, 82, of Dillonvale, Ohio passed away Wednesday July 13, 2011 in the Dixon Health Care Center in Wintersville, Ohio. Ralph was born Aug. 13, 1928 in Rayland, Ohio, son of the late Lloyd H. and Ruth Burke Boyd. He was a retired dozer operator for Consol Coal Co. and was the former manager of the Dillonvale American Legion Bowling Lanes. He is a member of the Smithfield Friends Church, Dillonvale American Legion, Dillonvale Eagles and the CSA Lodge # 121 in Dillonvale. He was an avid euchre player and loved to bowl. Ralph served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He also was an active member in the Dillonvale American Legion's Honor Guard for many years.In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Joan Lewis Boyd in 2009, his grandson Jason Boyd also in 2009 and by an infant brother Lloyd Herbert Boyd. Surviving are four daughters, Joanne (Bill) Bungard of Rayland, Ruth (Ben) Rosenzweig of Kearney, Nebraska, Joy (Rick) Potter of West Palm Beach, FL. and Linda (Dave) Summers of Richmond, Ohio. His son Ralph E. (Darlene) Boyd of Rayland. 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Richard (Shirley) Boyd of Smithfield, Isaac (Aloa) Boyd of Newport, NC., Lloyd (MaryAnn) Boyd of Smithfield, Ken (Kathy) Boyd of Mesquite, NV. and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 19th., from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm. at the Smithfield Friends Church. Pastor Jim MacNealy will provide Ralph's Service and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
