Richard M. Boyd, 90, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Wednesday February 2, 2022, at his home.

Richard was born on May 21, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, OH, son of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Burke) Boyd.

He was retired from CONSOL Coal Co., where he worked in shovel maintenance as a welder. He was a member of the Friends Church in Smithfield.

Richard was a Veteran of the US Air Force having served his country during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 2016, and two brothers, Ralph, and Lloyd Boyd.

Surviving are his three sons, Curtis (Martha) Boyd of Scio, OH, Bill Boyd of home and Ted (Lori) Boyd of Smithfield; two brothers, Isaac (Aloa) Boyd of Newport, NC, and Kenny (Cathy) Boyd of Mesquite, NV; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday Feb. 11, 2022, from 10 am to 11:30 am at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, followed by the funeral service at 11:30. Rev. Bob Carson will officiate, and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH. www.jefosterfh.com
