Richard Alan (Red Dog) Reed, 73, formerly of Smithfield, OH, passed away Saturday, December 27 in Sequoyah East Nursing Center in Roland, OK.Richard was born December 19, 1935 in Barnesville, OH, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Ankrom) Reed.Richard was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army, worked construction for Local #809. He loved race cars and all animals, especially his dogs, cats and farm animals. He was always there to help family and friends. He will be greatly missed.In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Charles Reed, siblings, Nancy, Janey, Leonard and infant sister and twin brothers.Richard is survived by his wife, Helena Jane (Conner) of Muldrow, OK, whom he married on June 13, 1972; children, Steven (Anne) Reed of Medina, Patsy Forshey of Hanes City, FL; brothers Dean and Dave; sisters Janet, Carolyn and Kathy; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, Jan.2, 2009 from 10am.-noon followed by the funeral at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. The Rev. Paul Bigsby will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Memorial Gardens.
