Obituary

Richard A. Thornton Sr., 74, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away Tuesday Jan. 20 , 2009 in Trinity Medical West.Richard was born June 21, 1934 in Bloomingdale, son of the late Joseph and Emily Thornton. He was formerly employed at the Ohio Ferro Alloy Plant in Goulds, and is retired from the Jefferson County Dept. of Highways. He is a member of the Mingo Sportsman's Club and the Wintersville American Legion. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Third Armored Division. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife Hattie Parrish Thornton, who passed away on Aug. 21, 2000 and his brother David. Surviving are his daughter Debbie Klepack of Wintersville, his son Richard A. Thornton Jr. and his wife Wendy of Smithfield, a step-son Bill Case of Calf. His grandson Lance Thornton. Two sisters Carol Mowry of Wintersville and Marian McCrae of Yorkville. Friends and family may call on Saturday Jan. 24th. from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Burial will be at the convenience of Richard's family. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Richard to the: Mingo Sportsman's Club, 1400 Twp.
