IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert D.
Anderson
February 19, 1948 – January 7, 2025
Robert D. "Bob" Anderson, 76, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in the Select Specialty Hospital in Weirton, WV.
Bob was born February 19, 1948, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Harry "Gump" and Eunice (Stock) Anderson. He was also preceded by his brother, Ron Anderson; sister-in-law, Dawn Holt Anderson; nieces, Brenda Anderson Kenny and Rhonda Anderson Saffel.
Bob worked for over 35 years at the First Energy Sammis Plant in Stratton, OH. He worked his way through the electrician ranks and became and Electrical Foreman until his retirement. He was a member of the Hi-Stack Club, and he always enjoyed the picnics at Stratton Park.
He was a 1966 graduate of Toronto High School, former City Councilman, and even worked for the city for a few years. Bob was also a Veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam era, and was a member of the Toronto American Legion.
Bob was an avid Toronto Red Knight, Ohio State Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He was a car enthusiast who loved going to car shows and taking care of his Novas, Corvette and MG over the years.
To Bob, his family was everything. He was a little league coach when his boys were younger and as they grew up, he attended all their middle, high school, and college sports games religiously. Bob later became a "Pappy" and continued to be a very active supporter for each of them in whatever they did.
He so loved his family and his town. Bob's sense of humor and his contagious grin will be missed by us all.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Janice A. (Blaner) Anderson, whom he married June 14, 1969; his sons, Robb of Steubenville, twins, Tim (Renee) and Tom (Angie) of Toronto, and Andy of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren whom he adored, Maddie, Bryson, Jenna, Callie, Wyatt, Peter, Bennett, Layla and Lilyana; brother, Larry Anderson (Michael Boulas) of New Orleans, LA; sister, Denise (Steve) Rebich of Toronto; sister-in-law, Rita (Frank) Turner of Longs, SC, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 12 from 1 PM to 5 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where services will be held on Monday at 12 noon. Bob's family and close friend, Bob Bertram, will conduct the service and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
