Obituary

Robert R. Bake Baker, 69, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday Feb. 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born Aug. 11, 1954, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Robert H. and Anna Belle (Harper) Baker.

Bob retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., where he worked as a Stove Tender on the #5 Blast Furnace. After retirement, Bob went to work at the Weirton Medical Center in the Maintenance Dept. He was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson Union High School.

One of his greatest loves was watching his grandsons play baseball. He was a former President of the Knoxville Little League Assoc. He loved working in his yard and having cookouts. Bob was a member of the Dyer Country Club for many years, where he loved golfing with his friends. He was also a huge Pittsburgh Steeler and Penn State fan.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Sylvia and Joyce and brothers, Ronald and Danny.

Surviving is his wife and high school sweetheart of 50 years, Cathy J. (Cook) Baker, whom he married Nov 24, 1973; daughter, Amy (Aaron) Schmidt of Richmond, OH; two sons, Jason Baker and fianc Stephanie Lish of Bloomingdale, OH, and Kevin Baker (Krystal Kidd) of Toronto; three sisters, Sally Fuller and Candice Winston both of NY, and Darlene Carbin of Hammondsville, OH; two brothers, Gary (Josie) Baker of FL, and Tim Baker of Grove City, OH; six grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Noah, Luke, Chloe and Lydia; three step-grandchildren, Anthony, Abby, Kacey, and one great-granddaughter, Bonnie.

Bobs wishes were to be cremated, with no services observed. Memorial donations may be directed to the Jefferson Co. Humane Society in Wintersville.
