CAROTHERS, Robert L., 66, of Smithfield, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in his home after a lengthy illness.Bob was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Weems, Ohio, son of the late Lewis and Anna Mae Brown Carothers. He was retired from Weirton Steel Corp., where he worked in the sheet mill. He was a member of the Hopedale Church of Christ; a lifetime member of the Jefferson Sportsman's Club and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Olivia Jade and Gregory Lee Carothers, three sister, Betty Mae Fellows, Ruth Weber, and Alice Lee and by his brother Bernard Carothers.Surviving are his wife Patricia E. (Grant) Carothers, whom he married on October 21, 1966, his daughter Yvonne (Alan) Burkett of Smithfield, four sons, Robert, Ronald, Douglas and Greg Carothers. three sisters; Pat, Sue, and Dotty and eight brothers, Joe, Donald, Fred, Elvis, Tom, Bruce, Jeff, and 'Greaser' Carothers. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.Friends and family may call on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield; where services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pastor Dean Blythe will provide the Services and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.Full military honors will be provided by the Piney Fork American Legion.
