Robert C. Cooper, 82, of Dayton, OH, formerly of Smithfield, OH, passed away December 18, 2011 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Bob was born on November 11, 1929 in Dillonvale, OH, son of the late Robert M. and Pauline (Cassels) Cooper.Bob was a member of the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Smithfield, OH; he was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel with 44 years of service where he worked as a Steam Engineer. Bob was also a graduate of Wayne High School Class of 1947.In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Cooper who passed in 2001.Bob is survived by his three children, daughter Judith L. Jackson of Dayton, OH, son Raymond Cooper and son R. Byron Cooper both of Dallas, TX; his sister Margaret Wilkinson of Buffalo, NY, sister Virginia (Buddy) Linear of Cleveland, OH, sister Grace (Stan) Webb and brother-in-law Bob Beall both of Las Vegas, NV. Bob is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 4-7pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Bob's funeral service will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the Smithfield Christian Church with the Presiding Elder Rev. Gatewood officiating.
