Robert G. Kovarik, 89, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Friday June 28, 2024, at his home under hospice care.

Bob was born July 19, 1934, in Rayland, OH, son of the late Andy and Mary (Polivka) Kovarik. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A. (Marzeta) Kovarik, who passed Aug. 5, 2006.

Bob was a retired chemist, working for the former First Energy Corp. - W.H. Sammis Plant in Stratton, OH. He was also a Veteran of the US Army.

He was protestant by faith, a member of the Piney Fork American Legion Post #735, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Surviving is his neighbor, Patty Carothers, and several cousins.

Military Honors will be presented by the Piney Fork and Dillonvale American Legions on Wednesday July 3, at 1 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Visitation will take place from 12 Noon to 1 PM with burial in the Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. www.jefosterfh.com
