Rose Marie Petrola Argentine, formerly of Steubenville, OH, died on October 4, 2017 at the Calcutta Health Care Center. Rose Marie was born on Nov 6, 1923 in Steubenville. Rose was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Mary Lucash Petrola.
Rose spent her early life on Arlington Ave. in Steubenville, She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School class of 1941.
Rose worked at her father's grocery store before her marriage to Edward Argentine on January 15, 1945.
She had many jobs in her life that began as a demonstrator for Sunbeam products, an Easter Bunny at the Hub in Steubenville, Feature Editor of the Steubenville Herald Star and later had her favorite job as receptionist for her brother, Dr. Frank Petrola.
Rose loved to cook and entertain. Her home was always bursting at the seams with company. She was a champion baker and baked cakes for her Church well into her 80s.
Rose was a charter member of the former St. Pius Catholic Church. She later became a member of Triumph of the Cross Church and has been a member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius.
Rose leaves behind to miss her and cherish her memory, her daughter Mary Ann Smith (Richard) of Wellsville and her daugher-in-law, Shelley Argentine of Steubenville. Her beloved siblings Joann Bernabei, Dr. Frank Petrola and Virginia Mort. She leaves her grandchildren, Steven Smith (Di), Robin Gaston, Kristin McNicol (Sean), Donna Turner (John), Jillian Longo (Ryan), Dominic Argentine and Ray Bowman and 10 great grandchildren. Rose also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward and beloved son Bucky Argentine.
Calling hours will be held at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 4 7 pm. A Mass to celebrate her beautiful life will be held on Monday, Oct. 9 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church in East Liverpool, OH. Fr. Peter Haladej will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.
