Rudolph "Rudy" Meszaros, 81, of Rayland, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, OH.Rudy was born on April 23, 1930, in Plum Run, OH, son of the late Marcus and Erma (Rienagle) Meszaros.Rudy retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co. in 1992, where he worked in the Blast Furnace. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War Conflict. Rudy was a member of the Piney Fork American Legion Post #735, he enjoyed playing poker with his family and he loved Polka music.In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his wife Garnette S. Meszaros; his step-son Walter Stromeyer; his brother Albert, two infant brothers, and two infant sisters.Rudy is survived by his three sisters, Connie (Chuck) Erb of Rayland, OH, where Rudy resided, Velma Waldman of Smithfield, OH and Donna (Eugene) Costello of Rayland, OH; one brother Marcus (Benice) Meszaros of Adena, OH. Rudy is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his special animal companion Abbie.Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 25 from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH, where Rudy's funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26 at 11am with the Msgr. John Kolesar as Celebrant.
