Russell W. Zifzal, 84, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Sunday Sept. 11, 2016 in the Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
Russell was born Sept. 1, 1932 in Piney Fork, OH, son of the late Frank and Rose (Curtis) Zifzal.
He was a retired pipefitter for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp, a member of the Smithfield Presbyterian Church, Piney Fork American Legion and Smithfield Masonic Lodge #182 F&AM.
Russell was avid Cleveland Browns fan, a season ticket holder for decades, and an avid golfer with his buddy Dave Svoboda. Russells favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by wife Lila (Thomas) Zifzal, his twin infant brother Rymono and his brother Gene Zifzal.
Surviving is his son Timothy and his wife Kimberly Zifzal of Smithfield; his grandson Brandon Verhovec of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Sandy (Joe) Homol and Rosemary Spontaneo both of Piney Fork; his brother Raymond (Leona) Zifzal of Cleveland, OH and his sister-in-law Rita Zifzal of Dillonvale, OH.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday Sept. 13, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am. Rev. Mike Elder will officiate and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield.
Military graveside honors will be provided by the Piney Fork American Legion.
Russells family would like to thank Dr. John Figel for all the excellent care he has provided over the years and to his wife Bonnie for being so understanding to the time and devotion that he gives. Also a special thanks to his entire staff.
