Ruth A. Scott, 74, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.

Ruth was born January 3, 1952, in Steubenville, daughter of the late Lawson C. and Genevieve E. (Ghenne) Hasting. She was also preceded in death by her companion, James “Jim” Fullerton in 2018, her brother, Jim Hasting and her grandson, Kade Hunter, both in 2022.

Years ago, Ruth worked as an Aide with Heritage Home Health in Toronto. She was most content being a homebody taking care of her family and house. Ruth loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ruth leaves behind one daughter, Sherri L. Hunter of Wintersville, OH; one son, Carl L. “Deke” Scott of Toronto; one sister, Donna Blackburn of Toronto; one brother, Bill (Donna) Hasting of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren, Jay, Lucas, Dwight, Jeffrey and Trevor and three great-grandchildren, Pyper, Clayton and Chloe.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 24 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A service for Ruth will follow at 4 PM with Rev. Kevin Rinkes.
