Obituary

Samuel Kenneth Crawford, 88, of Toronto, OH, died Feb. 24, 2022, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Harold and Margaret (Smith) Crawford.

Sam was a lifelong resident of Toronto. He attended Toronto High School before joining the Marine Corp., serving during the Korean War as a Corporal.

He was a member of the Toronto First United Methodist Church. He worked in industry and plant security at Titanium, Hancock, and The Sammis Plant.

He married the late Marilyn Starr Crawford on Nov. 24, 1960, in Maryland, and they were married for 58 years. He loved traveling with 'his girl' Marilyn, sometimes never knowing where they would end up at the end of the day. His hobby was small engine repairs- there wasn't a lawnmower he couldn't bring back to life.

Besides his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Peggy Tauer, nephew John Tauer, as well as his special aunts Babe and Helen.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a special cousin John Wallach of Powell, Ohio.

The funeral service for Sam will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 11 am at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am. Rev. Kevin Rinkes, who was also a personal friend, will officiate and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
