Samuel 'Sam' (Grant) Grantowski, 82, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Sunday November 23, 2008 in the Carriage Inn of Steubenville.Sam was born July 11, 1926 in Toronto, son of the late Joseph and Mary Popick Grantowski. Sam was a retired employee of National Steel Corp., working in the Blooming Mill as a Scarfer for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Steel 25 yr. Club, T.H.S. Alumni Assoc., graduating in class of 1945. Sam loved sports, he followed the Cleveland Browns, the Cavaliers, the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother Mike and his brother-in-law Elmer Micko.Surviving are his sister Mary F. Micko of Toronto, his brother Stanley of Hannibal, Ohio, sister-in-law Norma Grant of Toronto, his niece Marie (Nick) Valero, two nephews Bob (Severin) Grant and Mike and (Vickie) Grant; 5 great nieces and nephews; Goddaughters Lisa ( Brian ) Fogel and Denna ( Brian )Cave, niece Stacie (Dale) Call and nephews Jay(Jenny) Valero and Steve (Lisa) Valero. 7 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto; where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 pm., followed by Sam's Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 1:00 pm. at St. Joseph R.C. Church N. River Ave. in Toronto. Father Thomas Vennitti will be the Celebrant and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday at 3:45 pm.
