Samuel L. Maffett, 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away suddenly Monday, July 3, 2017 at his home.
Sam was born April 15, 1939 in Toronto, son of the late Samuel H. and Dorothy (Littlecott) Maffett.
He was an active member of Brays Chapel UMC where he loved to plant flowers and make repairs. Sam started his career working for 20 years at Federal Paper-Board Co. in Steubenville. He went on to work another 16 years at the Ohio Edison Toronto Plant and then he retired from Quaker State Plant in WV.
Sam was a Veteran of the US Army having served his country in the military police during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas who passed in 2006.
Sam leaves behind his wife, Joyce (Conn) Maffett whom he married March 2, 1978; his four children, Holly Maffett and fianc Jesse Kosegi of Wintersville, OH, Casie (John Kim) Maffett of Ontario, Canada, Michael Maffett and Julie Maffett Thompson both of AZ; his grandson, Edwin Samuel Kim; his sister, Nancy Elson and his three brothers, Charles Maffett, Cliff Buzz (Eddy Gayle) Maffett and John (Diane) Maffett all of Toronto; his sister in law, Wanda Maffett also of Toronto; several nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Service for Sam held on Saturday, July 8 at 12 noon at Brays Chapel. Rev. Ed Kovacik will officiate the service and Sams burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements for Sam are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Memorial donations may be directed to Brays Chapel c/o Dave Marshall, Treasurer 884 Co. Rd. 56 Toronto, OH 43964.
