Samuel B. Shevelow, Jr., 64, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022. He was a resident of Dixon Nursing Home since 2006.

He was born June 6, 1958, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Samuel B. Shevelow, Sr. and Mary V. (Richman) Shevelow who survives.

Sam was a 1976 graduate of Toronto High School, excelling in sports. He once scored 24 points in one game as sophomore on the Varsity Basketball team.

In previous years, he attended the Toronto Nazarene Church and Mt. Vernon Nazarene College after high school.

In addition to his father, Samuel, Sr., he was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry (Shevelow) Starr.

Sam leaves behind his mother, Mary; sister, Susette (Doug) Hannan, and brothers, Frank (Darla) Shevelow and Scott (companion Eileen) Shevelow, and several nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held at the pavilion at Toronto Union Cemetery on Sunday, June 25 at 2 PM. Rev. Eric Frey will officiate. Arrangements for Sam are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.

Sams family would like to thank the staff of Dixon Health Care Center for the love and care they showed Sam for the past 16 years, and also Amedisys Hospice especially Carly.
