Sherry J. Matthews, 84, of Rayland, OH, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Sherry was born July 19, 1939, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Charles and Alma (Scott) Reynard. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Matthews in 2011, and two brothers, Richard and Ronald Reynard.

She worked for many years providing private home health care in the area. Sherry was a member of Weems Chapel and attended the church in Salt Run where she often played the piano during the service.

Sherry leaves behind her husband, James A. Matthews, Jr. whom she married July 21, 1955; her children, Cindy Stingle of Rayland, Jamie (Steve) Frederick and Lisa (Mike) Valuska both of Dillonvale, OH, Kim (David) Spell of Rayland, and Melissa (Tim) Smith of Bloomingdale, OH; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation for Sherry will be held Wednesday, April 17 from 12 noon to 2 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM. Pastor Shaun Ford will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Alexandria Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
