Shirley L. Boyd, 85, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at her home.

Shirley was born April 10, 1931 in Decatur, IL, daughter of the late Daniel and Sophia (Thomas) Root.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Friends Church in Smithfield, OH.

Shirley served her country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Leslie and Bud and by three sisters, Bessie, Marian and Theresa.

Surviving is her husband, Richard M. Boyd of home; her three sons, Curtis (Martha) Boyd of Scio, OH, Bill Boyd of home and Ted (Lori) Boyd of Smithfield; her two sisters, Judy (Thomas) Coffman and Priscilla Schmit both of Taylorsville, IL and her six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 11 am til the time of her funeral service at 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. Pastor Bob Carson will officiate and her burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH.
