Shirley J. Carnahan, 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, at her home.
Shirley was born June 22, 1947, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Ruza) Martin. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Martin and sister, Patricia McClain.
She was raised and attended school in Mingo Junction, OH, graduating from Mingo High in 1965. Shirley lived most of her life in Toronto and worked for a time at Sears in sales. She enjoyed backroad travels and scenic steam engine train rides with her loving husband. Shirley dedicated her life as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Shirley leaves behind her husband, William E. "Bill" Carnahan, whom she married Sept. 10, 1966; two daughters, Cathleen Ann (Frank) Pierantozzi of Huntsville, TX, and Kelli Marie (William) Beatty of Weirton, WV; four grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Magga", Ashley Marie (Alex Heiby) Blackburn, Megan Christine (Zachary) Wright, Ryan William (Chelsie) Pierantozzi, and Jordan Nicole (Travis) Mize; great-grandchildren, Harper Rae Pierantozzi, Colton Edward Mize, Luke Emerson, Owen and Elliott Heiby, and another great-grandson (baby boy Mize) on the way; sister, Nancy (David) Miller of Toronto, brother, James Martin of TX, and several nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow on Monday at 11 am at St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, with viewing prior to Mass from 10 am to 11 am. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate and interment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.
