Theodore N. Ted Kurty, 88, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday Oct. 8, 2022, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Ted was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Stratton, OH, son of the late Pete and Mary (Zelasko) Kurty, Sr.

He was retired from the Timet Corp. in Toronto, where he worked as an electrician. Ted also served his country in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne M. (Wellington) Kurty, on May 13, 2022, and his brother, Pete Kurty, Jr.

Surviving is his son, Von (Susan) Kurty of Steubenville; daughter, Tammi (Bill) Burruss of Madison, AL; sister, Rosemary (Wilford Bill) Swearingen of Toronto; four grandchildren, Alexander (Sarah) Burruss of TX, Aaron Burruss of AL, Samantha (Michael) Shaw of Toronto, and Nathaniel Kurty of Akron, OH.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2022, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto from 9 am to 10 am followed by a funeral service at 10 am. Rev. Bobbyjon Bauman will officiate, and burial will follow in the Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto. www.jefosterfh.com
