Thomas W. Tom Deemer, 81, of Toronto, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 23.
Tom was born Oct. 1, 1935 in Apollo, PA, son of the late George and Nellie (George) Deemer. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and granddaughter Samantha Hoffman.
He was Store Manager of the former G.C. Murphy Co. in Toronto before retiring after 25 years. Tom also owned and operated Gem City Video in Toronto retiring in 1998. Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Toronto and he was a Veteran of the US Air Force.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Alice I. (Bodenhorn) Deemer whom he married June 24, 1962; his son, Timothy (Susan) Deemer and his daughter, Laurie (Albert) Hoffman both of Toronto; four grandchildren, Nathan Chase (Jo-Hanna) of Salem, Chelsea Deemer of Toronto, Tyler Ramsey of Salineville, OH and Martin Hoffman of Stratton, OH; four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, Feb. 26 from 12 noon 2 pm and again from 4 - 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church in Toronto. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate and his burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto. Additional visitation at the church on Monday from 10 am til service and Military Honors will be provided at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion.
Tom was a great family man and provider. He was a God fearing man that will be missed by family and friends. Memorial donations may be directed to: First U.M.C. PO Box 345 Toronto, OH 43964.
