Thomas A. Grimes, 75, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Tom was born on November 22, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, to the late Jack and Amy Kathleen (Fluharty) Grimes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Sokol) Grimes; daughter, Jackie Grimes; sister-in-law, Theresa Popp; and brothers-in-law, Dave Moore and Joe and Mike Sokol.

Tom graduated from Toronto High School in 1968. After attending college for a couple of years, he returned home and began working at Weirton Steel, where he spent 31 years in clerical and accounting roles before retiring. He later worked as a delivery driver for Toronto Pharmacy, which later became Toronto Apothecary, spending a total of 12 years behind the wheel.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto and United Steelworkers Local 291 in Weirton. Tom loved being out and socializing, whether delivering medications or chatting in the grocery store aisle. He enjoyed “shopping” at the local hat shop and playing his daily number, 222. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing, playing ping pong and tennis, and bowling with friends, Bingo and he also moonlighted as Santa Claus. 

Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Tom is survived by his son, Tommy (Jodie) Grimes, and their son, Landon, his only grandson, all of Toronto; his sister, Linda Moore; brother-in-law, Frank Popp; sister-in-law, Linda Sokol; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Private services will be held at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto led by Fr. Thomas Vennitti. Tom and Mary will be laid to rest with their daughter Jackie in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
