Thomas Swartz 73, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Tuesday Nov. 16th 2004 in Catherine's Care Center in Steubenville. Tom was born Oct. 8, 1931 in Toronto, son of the late Lewis and Ethel Wholefire Swartz. Tom was retired from the former Kaul Clay Co., was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Toronto American Legion Post # 86; where he was was a Past Commander of the Post and was a former member of the Torvets Drill Team, and he was a member of the Toronto Veterans of Foreign War Post #6906. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by: Three Brothers, Steve, Emery and Edward Swartz; and by Three Sisters; Mary Holmgreen, Josephine Myers, and Anna Sembar. Surviving are; His Sister; Louise Motto of Toronto with whom he resided and Several Nieces and Nephews. Friends and family may call on Thursday evening from 6-9 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. Toronto. On Friday morning friends and family may call at St. Joseph Church on N. River Ave. in Toronto from 9:15 am. up til time of the Funeral Liturgy with Mass which is at 10:00 am. Msgr. Kurt Kemo will be the celebrant and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Toronto Union Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be provided to Tom following the Mass at the church by the Toronto American Legion Post # 86. A combined Legion and V.F.W. service will be held Thursday Evening at the Funeral Home at 6:30 pm. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.
