Victor H. Obertance, 80, of Toronto, passed away Monday, July 7, 2008 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Vic was born on December 19, 1927 in Wolfe Run, OH, son of the late Michael and Mary (Sanchan) Obertance. Vic was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto; retired from Ohio Edison Toronto Plant with 42 years of service as a Maintenance Supervisor. Vic was also a veteran of the US Army serving his country in WWII. In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by ten brothers and a sister. Vic is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores J. 'Dodie' (Tulencik) Obertance of home; three sons, Victor (Linda) Obertance of Davenport, Iowa, Joel (Sharon) Obertance of Toronto, OH, and Daniel P. Obertance of Steubenville, OH; one sister, Helen Gann of Nashville, TN. Vic is also survived by eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Mass held for Vic on Friday, July 11 at 11:00am at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto with the Rev. Thomas A. Vennitti as Celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The arrangements for Vic are being handled by the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Vic's memory to: Urban Mission 301 N. 5th St., Steubenville, OH 43952; St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church or St. Francis Central School 1225 N. River Ave., Toronto, OH 43964.
