Walter C. Ambler, 87, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in Steubenville, OH in the Carriage Inn. Walter was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Shadyside, OH, son of the late Zane and Mary McMillen Ambler. He was a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church, the Friendship Advisory Committee, and he was past president of the Jefferson Co. Agricultural Society. Walter was a self-employed farmer having also worked for Fellows Equipment Co. for 27 years and Stravaggi Industries.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Boruta Ambler who passed in 2007 and several cousins.Walter is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hawthorne) Ambler of the home in Smithfield and several cousins. There will be no services for Walter per his wishes and his burial will be held at the convenience of his family. His arrangements are in the care of the J.E.
