Walter G. Stanak, 83, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday June 14, 2024, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.

Walter was born March 6, 1941, in Steubenville, son of the late Walter J. and Helen T. (Tawrosza) Stanak.

He was the owner and operator of Stanak Trucking for over 50 years prior to his retirement.

Walter was a member of the Crossroads North River Church in Toronto, and the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F&AM. Walter was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Carrol, two grandchildren, David Allen and Kristen Stanak, niece Linda Mencannon, and nephew Roger Lee Virden.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy Y. (Wass) Stanak, whom he married July 1, 1989; daughter, Sheri Mazurkevick of MD; two sons, David Stanak and Walter Scott Stanak both of New Cumberland, WV; stepson, George Ely of Toronto; nephew, Bud Carrol of VA, and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 18, from 12 noon to 2 pm, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm. Joseph Coma will officiate, and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Military Honors will be presented, by the Toronto American Legion Post #86, following the service. www.jefosterfh.com
