Walter Dale Big Daddy Swickard, 84, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday Aug. 17, 2015 in the Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, OH.

Dale was born Aug. 2, 1931 in Pine Grove Ridge, OH, son of the late William Walter and Chalissa Lawrence Swickard.

Dale was retired from the Edison Local School District, where he was a bus driver and Transportation Supervisor. He also worked at Kuester Implement as a mechanic and Rogers Community Auction.

He was a member of the New Somerset Christian Church, a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Union High School, member of the Knoxville Vol. Fire Dept., where he served as chief for 20 years, Knox Twp. Grange and was a 15 year member of the Jefferson Co. Fair Board.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dale Lynn Swickard.

Surviving is his daughter, Suzie (Jim) Zorbini; sons, Patrick Dale (Ellen) Swickard and Jason (Jennifer) Swickard all of Toronto; seven grandchildren, Evelyn (Ron King) Zimmer of Toronto, Rachel (Cody McAdoo) Zimmer of Kent, OH, Chesney Swickard, Devin Gill, Erica Weingart, Jenna Rose Swickard and Jason Patrick Swickard all of Toronto; his companion of 18 years, Joyce Rawson and her children, Lisa Wright of WV, Sherry Dewess of IL, Charles (Michelle) Rawson of Toronto and Joyces five grandchildren; the mother of his children, Patricia Hawthorn McKim Ambler of Toronto.

Visitation for Dale will be on Friday Aug. 21, 2015 from 3-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto. Additional visitation will be held on Sat. from 9 am til time of Dales Service at 10 am at the funeral home. Rev. Ron Miller will officiate his service and entombment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville, OH.
