Obituary

William A. "Bill" Tharp, 67, of Richmond, OH, passed away peacefully Saturday Jan. 26, 2013 at his home after a long battle with cancer.Bill was born April 18, 1945 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Clyde and Gladys Milliken Tharp. Bill was retired from Wheeling-Pitts Steel Corp. Mingo Plant as a scale repairman. He coached the J.U. Little Yellow Jackets football team and the Jefferson Union/ Edison freshman and reserve football teams. He was a graduate of T.H.S. class of 1963, played for the former Toronto Tigers football team, loved coon hunting and Blue Grass music.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his grandson Joshua Young; three brothers Glenn, Larry and Wayne Tharp; two sisters Jean Coil and Dolores Vecchione. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sandy (Peckens) Tharp of home; his daughter Marla (Bryan) Young of Oxford, MI; two sons William K. and Matthew (Amee) Tharp all of Richmond; his sister-in-law Jessie Tharp of Richmond; six grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. Visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday Jan. 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, OH. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev. Jeff Proya will provide Bill's service and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
