William Bill Verhovec, 82, of Rayland, OH (Plum Run), passed away Wed. March 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.

Bill was born March 18, 1934 in Plum Run son of the late, Anthony Tony and Marcella (Reinagle) Verhovec.

He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 44 years working in the BOF. Bill was a member of the Hopedale Church of Christ and a Veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. (Dagan) Verhovec (2014), two brothers, Julius and Edward and his sister, Veronica Colabelli.

Bill leaves behind his two sons, Greg (Barbara) Verhovec and Gary (Stacey) Verhovec both of Rayland; two brothers, Donald (Barbara) Verhovec of Rayland and Tony (Polly) Verhovec of Mingo Jct., OH; his sister, Carolyn Verhovec of Rayland; his four grandchildren, Greg (Adrienne) Verhovec, Audrianna, Joshua and Chelsee Verhovec and his great-grandson William Verhovec.

Visitation for Bill will be held Friday from 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. His funeral service will be Saturday at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Dean Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
