Barbara Jane (Rubis) Handzus

Barbara Jane Handzus, 80, of Toronto, OH passed away Friday, March 27, 2020 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Heaven surely received another angel.

Barbara was born March 26, 1940 in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Quick) Rubis.

Barbara was the best wife, mother and grandmother anyone could ever ask for. She was known for being kind and thinking and praying for others. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their CWC in Toronto.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Rubis and an infant son, Robert J. Handzus, Jr.

She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Handzus whom she married May 31, 1962; her daughter, Annette (Alex) Cooper of Toronto; her son, Robert Keith (Stacey) Handzus of Mingo Jct., OH; her beloved shih tzu Angel; five grandchildren, Alisha (Jason) Speaker, Kayelynn Handzus, Edward W. Stacey II (Elicia), Rob (Nancy) Handzus and Bryan (Elizabeth) Handzus; three step-granddaughters, Betsy Cooper, Angela (Brandon) Cain and Carrie (Brian) Benner and her ten great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Fr. Tim Huffman will officiate, and burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
