Barbara C. (Lewis) Vandeborne

Barbara C. Vandeborne, 80, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at her home.

Barb was born Dec. 5, 1938 in Struthers, OH, daughter of the late Lester and Regina (Hemsley) Lewis.

She was a retired Nurse with the former Ohio Valley Hospital. Barb was a member of the Smithfield Friends Church, the Smithfield Community Food Pantry, Women’s Missionary Fellowship and the Norma Freer Missionary Society.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Vandeborne who passed Jan. 30, 2018; two infant siblings; her brothers, Wilbur L. and Nadine Lewis, Russell M. Lewis, Joel L. Lewis; her sisters, Marjorie G. Layman and Joan E. and Ralph Boyd.

Barb leaves behind her son, David P. and wife Mary Vandeborne of Smithfield; her nine grandchildren, Richard, Austin, Lexi, Justin, Lauren, Lance, William, Chad and Jacoby; her great-grandson Dylan; her sister-in-law, Lynell Lewis of Columbus, OH; her very loving and caring nieces and nephews and a special thank you to all of Barb’s brothers and sisters in law.

Friends will be received Sunday, Dec. 23 from 12 – 3 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Her funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am at the Smithfield Friends Church with Rev. Mark Carpino officiating. Burial will take place at Holly Memorial Gardens next to her husband.
