Berne A. ‘Cappy’ White, 82, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday April 20, 2021 in the Weirton Medical Center in WV.
Berne was born Feb. 26, 1939 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Berne A., Sr. and Violet (McGrew) White.
He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp, where he worked for 30 years as an electrical machinist. After retirement, he worked part time at Spring Hills Golf Course, where he was also a member.
Berne loved to golf, bowl and shoot pool. He also enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycle and he built a lot of dune buggies. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Berne was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Catherine (Clotfelter) White and his sister, Joyce Spencer.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth A. (McMaster) White, whom he married Oct. 27, 1992; four sons, Patrick (Jaye) White of Dillonvale, OH, Robert White of Richmond, OH, Shawn (Lynette) White of Bergholz, OH and Tim (Tina) White of Richmond; two daughters, Lori (Kenny) Gorney and Tammy Sue Allen both of Toronto; two sisters, Judy (Chuck) Magee of Canton, OH, Jo Ann Findlay of Wintersville, OH; brother-in-law, Phil Spencer of Wintersville; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Berne will be held on Sunday April 25, 2021 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes in Toronto, OH. Burial will be at the convenience of his family.
