Charles W. 'Charlie' Greene

Charles ‘Charlie’ W. Greene, 86, of Bradley, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Valley Hospice Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.  He was a member of the Gwynn Allen American Legion Post 735 in Piney Fork, Ohio; the Veteran’s Association; Carpenter’s Local 186; and a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church. Being a carpenter and working with tools and wood projects was not just his trade, it became Charlie’s hobby and passion.  His family and friends will treasure the many beautiful things that he made for them throughout the years.

He was born November 13, 1936, in Barnesville, OH, son of the late Reverend Hollis and Vera Greene.  In addition to his parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by his son, Charles ‘Billy’ W. Greene Jr.; a brother, Larry Greene; infant granddaughter, Hannahlore Hagedorn, and son-in-law Delmar H. Hagedorn, III.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Lorrie (Toth) Greene, whom he married Aug. 15, 1964; one son, Eric (Stacey) Greene of Helotes, TX; two daughters, Kathrina Hagedorn of Kearneysville, WV, and Janniene (Ray) Huber of Newark, OH; seven grandchildren, Mark, Cole, and Zane Greene, Delmar and Reanna Hagedorn, and Malorrie (Cameron) Hubble and Raymond Huber; two great grandchildren, McKinley and Camrrie Hubble and one great grandchild, Baby Hubble, on the way.

Viewing will be held Friday, July 7 from 12 noon to 1 pm at the Smithfield United Methodist Church at 278 High Street, Smithfield, OH. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm with Pastor Margaret Hoder officiating. A military service will be held immediately afterwards at the Friendship Park Veterans Wall Memorial with the Piney Fork American Legion Post 735 officiating.

Arrangements for Charlie are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield.
