David L. Clegg, 61, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dave was born Nov. 18, 1957 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late James and Grace (Myers) Clegg.
He retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in Mingo with 20 years of service. Dave was a 1975 graduate of Toronto High School and he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto and the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye, Dallas Cowboy and Pittsburgh Pirate fan.
Dave leaves behind his wife, Shirley J. (Todd) Clegg whom he married June 13, 1981; his son, Todd (Jessica) Clegg and daughter, Lauren Waggoner both of Toronto; his three grandchildren, Easton Altieri, Clegg Waggoner and TJ Clegg; brother, Dan (Kathy) Clegg of Toronto, sister, Cheryl (David) Metz of West Jefferson, OH, brother, Stan (Judy) Clegg of Dover, OH, sister, Beth Clegg of Toronto and brother, Darrin (Julia) Clegg of Bloomingdale, OH and several nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto. Family and friends will be received from 1 pm until the time of the service at 3 pm. Rev. Tyler Bayless will officiate and Dave’s burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements for Dave are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. During Dave’s final minutes of his life he was able to donate his kidneys and help save the lives of two separate recipients.
