Dorothy Irene (Klan) Corona, 93 of Smithfield, OH, passed away Tuesday Nov. 6, 2018 at her home.
Dorothy was born June 28, 1925 in Maynard, OH, daughter of the late Alexander and Stella (Blazek) Klan.
She was a retired registered nurse, working for many years at Wheeling Hospital.
Dorothy loved her family and was never happier than when they were all together for a holiday, birthday, or simple get together. She taught her children and grandchildren to love God as she did.
She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale, OH. She was formerly a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Smithfield until it closed. Dorothy sang in the choir, taught CCD for many years, was on the Church Council and was very active in the Catholic Women's Club.
Dorothy loved to play cards especially Bridge and Solitaire. She played the violin and for a decade won many trophies bowling in a Women’s League in Dillonvale.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandson, Gabriel Corona, an infant great-granddaughter Maggie; three sisters, Amelia Moore, Leona Cornicelli, Phyllis Tovinitti, her brother David ‘Smokey’ Klan and two sons-in-law, Loren Neely and Walter Stromeyer.
Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Leonard A. Corona, Sr., whom she married on April 3, 1948; four sons, Leonard A. ‘Lenny’ (Rhonda) Corona, Jr., of Smithfield, Keith A. Corona of McEwen, TN, Timothy A. (Daphne) Corona of Brilliant, OH and Kevin A. (Melissa) Corona of Rayland, OH; two daughters, Bonnie Neely of Smithfield and Cynthia Stromeyer of St. Clairsville, OH; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Anthony, Vincent, Lenny III, Alexandra, Angela, Daniel and Mason and nine great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received Friday Nov. 9, 2018 from 3 - 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. Her Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Saturday at 10 am at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale. Msgr. John Kolesar will celebrate and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield.
Additional viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:15 am til time of her Mass in the rear of the church. A Vigil Service will be held Friday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
