Eric Paul Barnes, 64, of Steubenville, OH, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday May 5, 2021 in the ER at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.
Eric was born Feb. 27, 1957 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Thomas S. and Mary (Dunn) Barnes.
Eric was the owner-operator of Margaret’s Café in Toronto, OH. He got his start in the restaurant business when he was a Jr. at Brooke High School at Elby’s Restaurant in 1973. Throughout his career he owned Eric’s Restaurant in Toronto, Meade’s Restaurant in Wellsville; he was the manager at Applebee’s Restaurant and worked for Gordon Food Service.
He attended River Christian Fellowship in Empire, OH and Impact Church in Weirton, WV.
In additions to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lynn ‘Fuzzy’ and his wife, Colleen Barnes.
Surviving is his wife, Debbie (Wardeska) Barnes, whom he married Nov. 26, 2010; son Zachary Barnes and daughter, Katie (Jeremy) Hitt both of Wellsville, OH; two sisters, Joy (Roger) Flanagan of Leesburg, VA, and Susan Barnes of Follansbee, WV; brother, Thomas (Sharon) Barnes, II of Weirton; three stepdaughters, Mary Smith, Amy Wade and JoAnn Wardeska; eight grandchildren, Jeremiah Hitt, Avery Hitt, Lilli and Cooper Smith, Malcolm and Miles Wade, Sadie Wright, and Ryder Unkefer. Eric also leaves his dear friends, Pamela and her late husband John Fithen of Steubenville and his trusting cat Bella.
Visitation will be held Tuesday May 11, 2021 from 1 to 3 PM and 5 to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Eric’s funeral service will follow at 7 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
