Fred Straka, 70, of Weirton, WV, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday Feb. 28, 2021 in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Fred was born Dec. 22, 1950 in Steubenville, OH, son of Irma J. (Fracasso) Straka, who survives, and the late, Albert A. Straka, Jr.
Fred was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp, where he worked in the 80 Inch Mill.
He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, and the Weirton American Legion Post #10 S.A.L.
Fred was a 1968 graduate of Toronto High School. He enjoyed playing golf. He held season tickets for the Pitt Panthers football team, was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was a proud fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team.
In addition to his father Albert, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry (Donley) Straka and his brother, Brian Straka.
Fred is survived by his mother, Irma Straka of Toronto, OH; his sisters, Valerie (Jim) Barth, Karen (Tom) Bart; sister-in-law, Cindy Straka and his companion, Ursula Sandy. He was well loved by his nephews and nieces, Jim Wolpert, Matt Barth, Renee Drost, Michelle Lapinto, Alison Downing, Danny Bart, Mikey Bart, Joey Bart, Katie Straka, Brian Straka, and nine great nephews and nieces.
Fred was kind and generous and will be forever missed.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday March 3, 2021 from 12 Noon to 1 PM followed by Fred’s Memorial Service at 1 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Father Tony Thurston will officiate, and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
