James A. ‘Cheeks’ Carter, Jr., beloved father, brother and uncle, 63, of Toronto, OH, passed away suddenly Wed., Jan. 16, 2019 at his home.

 

Jim was born May 22, 1955 in Steubenville, son of the late James A., Sr. and Dolores (Gielata) Carter.

 

He was retired from Arcelor-Mittal (former Weirton Steel Corp.) where he worked as a crane operator. James was a 1973 graduate of Toronto High School and Catholic by faith.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his girlfriend, Teresa M. Knight who passed in 2015.

 

Jim leaves behind his son, James M. Carter of home; his siblings: sister, Charlotte (Gordon) Todd of E. Liverpool, OH, sister, Janie Cummings of Steubenville, brother, Bob carter of Toronto, sister, Sharon (Tim) Scholl of Toronto and sister, Cindy Carter of Steubenville. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

 

Family and friends will be received Friday, Jan. 18 from 10 am til the time of his funeral service at 2 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate and burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to: Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.
