John Applegarth Obituary

John G. Applegarth, 73, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

John was born March 6, 1948, son of the late James, Sr. and Linne (Callahan) Applegarth.

 

He retired from Weirton Steel in 1995 where he worked on the Rigging Gang. John was a Veteran of the US Army having served his country during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany.  

 

John was a member of the Jefferson Sportsman Club where he enjoyed trap shooting with his brother, Tom. He was also an avid hunter. If it wasn’t deer or turkey season, he could be found on his boat on the Ohio River.

 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James ‘Jim’ Applegarth, Jr.

 

John leaves behind his sisters, Orlou (Carl) Alban of Pleasant Hill, OH, Sylvia Stephenson of Elyria, OH, Patty Hartline of Texas; his brother, Thomas Applegarth of Toronto; his sister, Poochie Applegarth Hall of Toronto; his companion, Sarah Constantine of Toronto; his dog, Bentley and several nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation for John will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. John’s funeral service will follow at 6 PM.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
