Joyce Louise Byerly, 59 of Smithfield, OH passed away at Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH on July 9, 2023.
She was born June 24, 1964, in California, the daughter of Joyce Pinion, and later moved to Smithfield where she lived for almost 30 years. Joyce was preceded in death by grandparents, Wayne and Ruth Rupe.
Joyce was a bartender on and off throughout her life and a full-time homemaker. She will always be remembered by her decorations and flowers, her sense of humor, her ability to laugh at anything, and her silly words and nicknames. She would call people ‘cock-eyed nut.’
Joyce will also be remembered for never having a filter and always saying whatever she wanted and her ability to get through anything. She endured a courageous fight with cancer. She would give a stranger the shirt off her back. Joyce had a love of yard sales, thrift shops, especially Goodwill. She had a candle addiction. Joyce was kind, and always had her kids back no matter what. She always remained judgment free and was the best mom in the world.
Joyce leaves behind a fiancé, Gene Bird; daughters, Le Ann Humphreys (Chris), Summer Ritchie (Justin); mother, Joyce Pinion; two sisters, Mindy Zellar (Will), and Kathleen; brother, Dennis Byerly; grandchildren, Chris Jr, Oliviah, Sincere, David, Carson, Caden, Skylee; nephews and nieces, cousins and longtime friends.
Joyce’s family would like to thank the Carriage Inn for all their care throughout the years.
Visitation for Joyce will be held Thursday, July 20 from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of Joyce’s family.
