Kenneth 'Bill' Heckathorn Obituary

 

Kenneth W. ‘Bill’ Heckathorn, Jr., 82, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at his home.

 

Bill was born May 12, 1937 in Toronto, son of the late Kenneth W. Heckathorn, Sr. and Elizabeth F. (Nalepa) Marquis.

 

He was retired from the Timet-Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto where he worked as a clerk in the Forge. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and he was a member of the Toronto American Legion Post #86 and the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles.

 

Bill was a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan; he loved to golf and watch his grandson Chase play sports.

 

 

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Charles.

 

Bill leaves behind his wife, Marcita M. (Starr) Heckathorn whom he married Jan. 25, 1986; his two sons, Bill (Serena) Heckathorn of Steubenville, OH and Rick (Sharon) Heckathorn of Lynchburg, VA; his two daughters, Lori Heckathorn and Heather (Ryan) Boyd both of Toronto; his five grandchildren including Shay, Chase and Colt and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Wally (Tonnie) Heckathorn of Murrayville, GA, sister Kay (Brian) Pauley of Winter Garden, FL, sister-in-law, Dani Heckathorn of Steubenville and the mother of his three older children, Merrie Lynne Zeigler. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews and his brothers-in-law, Bob (Donna) Starr and Dave (Janey) Starr and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Kevin) Blanton and Mary (Neil) Blanton all of Toronto.

 

Friends and family will be received Saturday from 1 – 4 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. His funeral service will be held at 4 pm with Rev. Eric Frey officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion at the funeral home following the service.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center or Charity Hospice.
