TOGETHER AGAIN WITH HIS WIFE MARY JO
Larry William Hatfield, 75, of Rayland, OH, passed away Tuesday Sept. 29, 2020 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
Larry was born April 3, 1945 in Steubenville, son of the late Russell Dean and Wilma (Nagy) Hatfield.
He was retired from Boich Mining, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked at Consol Coal West Farms.
Larry was a member of the UMWA Local #1304 and #283. He was a member of the Pine Valley Sportsman’s Club; an avid fisherman and his greatest achievement and joy was his large vegetable garden. Larry was also a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo (Polito) Hatfield, who passed away Oct. 28, 2017 and his sister, Mary Jane Grant, March 7, 2020.
Surviving are his five brothers, Russell (Carolyn) Hatfield of Mingo Jct., OH, Dennis (Karen) Hatfield and Dale (Joyce) Hatfield both of Rayland, Brian (Cindy) Hatfield of Carrollton, OH, and Dwayne Hatfield and his brother-in-law James Grant both of Hopedale, OH.
Even though Mary Jo and Larry had no children, they loved and adored their nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday Oct. 3, 2020 from 10 AM – 11 AM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Larry’s funeral service will be held at 11 am. Rev. Wilford Simeral will officiate, and a private burial will follow in the New Alexandria Cemetery. Masks are requested.
