Mary Ann Fidak Obituary

Mary Ann (Herrick) Fidak, 83, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday July 6, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Vicki Kelley, surrounded by her family.

 

Mary Ann was born on Feb. 1, 1938, in Toronto, daughter of the late Michael J. and Ludmilla A. (Kubina) Herrick.

 

Mary Ann was a homemaker who formerly worked at the G.C. Murphy Co. in Toronto.

 

She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Steubenville, OH. Before joining Holy Family, Mary Ann was a Cantor, Sacristan, Choir Director, C.C.D. music teacher and in charge of plays for the children, and custodian at St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Toronto. She was a 1956 graduate of Toronto High School, and she became an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan later in life.

 

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Fidak, Jan. 6, 2013, an infant sister Theresa, two infant brothers, John, and Joseph, two sisters, Ludmilla Stephenson and Carolyne Zimmerman and her brother, Michael Herrick.

 

Surviving are her children, Fran Jack of Parrish, FL, Andrew ‘Andy’ (Cyndy) Fidak of Toronto, Mark Fidak of Columbus, OH and Vicki (Scott) Kelley of Steubenville; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Knight, Jennifer (Jon) Welling, Jamie Bush, Ryan (Stephanie) Fidak, Brittany Roberts (Dan DeFallo), Shanna Roberts, Parker Kelley and Melissa (Dom) Gilham; six great-grandchildren, Peyton Elise and Marley Raynn Knight, Austin James, Bryce Andrew and Charlotte Noelle Welling and Maddox Andrew Fidak; five sisters, Emily VanNest of Toronto, Barbara Herrick of Tucson, AZ, Rosemarie (Greg) Graham of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth (Sam) Julio of Follansbee, WV and Eleanor Adams of Toronto; two brothers, George Herrick of CA, Greg (Missy) Herrick of Toronto, several nieces, nephews, and a special godchild, Cheryl Lightfritz.

 

Mary Ann chose to donate her body to The Ohio State University Medical School. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 22 at 10 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Steubenville. Msgr. Gerald Calovini will celebrate, and she will be laid to rest in the Toronto Union Cemetery.   

 

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank Valley Hospice for their professional care and Antoinette Altieri for her care during Mary Ann’s end of life journey.
