Michael Shutak of Toronto, OH, passed away at the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Weirton, WV, on January 19, 2021. He was 82.
Mike was born September 17, 1938, in Stratton, OH, and was preceded in death by his parents, William and Suzanna (Pillar) Shutyak, brother William Shutyak and half-siblings Irene (George) Guy, Mary (Michael) Kurty, John (Emma) Shutyak, Ann (Frank) Krajovic and John Homishan. His wife, Marilyn, also preceded him in death on October 2, 2013.
Mike is survived by his step-son, Kenneth L. O'Hara of Upper Arlington and half-sibling Catherine (George) Snyder of Clayton, OH. Additionally, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. Mike was a guidance counselor for Wellsville High School for many years and taught chemistry at Follansbee High School in the early days of his career. Mike graduated from Kent State University and Toronto High School.
Mike's hobbies were working with old tube radios, cameras, metal detecting, wine making and stained glass. He did several beautiful stained glass windows for the homes in which he lived.
In his final years, Mike lived at Wyngate Senior Living where the staff took good care of him.
As per his request, there will be no visitation and burial will be at Toronto Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. His arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
