Nancy L. Pozar

Nancy Louise (Congressi) Pozar, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.

She was born August 5, 1930 in Piney Fork, OH, the eldest daughter of John and Thelma (Arcuri) Congressi. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her siblings, Joan Seely, Bette Daubenspeck, Barry Congressi, and by her beloved grandson, Steven Strupe.

Nancy is survived by her four children, James (Tamara) Pozar of Rayland, OH, Rebecca (Roger) Crothers of Adena, OH, Marianne Duda of Cincinnati, OH and Jamie (Robert) Bell of Wintersville, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Case of Twinsburg, OH, John Duda of Balitmore, MD and Aaron Pozar of Tiltonsville, OH, and her great-grandchildren, Alexander and Annabelle Case.

Nancy graduated from Smithfield High School in 1948 and went on to work in a military hospital in Guam. She was a strong and independent woman and worked to support herself and took pride that she was never a burden to her family.

She worked in the accounting dept. at Sattraloy, Inc. until the plant closed. She worked for various employers until she was able to retire. Nancy was a very active lifelong resident of Smithfield. She was a founding member of the Apple Festival, member of the Smithfield Women’s Club, founding member of the Smithfield Historical Society and served as a temporary village clerk. Recently she was an active member of the Friends of Smithfield and the Questors. Nancy loved to bake and for decades delighted family and friends with her homemade breads, cakes, pies, cookies and nut rolls.

Nancy’s family would like to thank Evelyn Clouston for all her kindness over the years. Evelyn and Nancy were good friends for over 50 years.

Nancy was loved by her family and will be terribly missed. In accordance with her wishes there will be no viewing. A private graveside service will be held in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. Her arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield.
