Naomi Ruth (Mayers) Hunt, 91, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday Oct. 5, 2021, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.
Naomi was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Steubenville, daughter of the late Raymond and Jean (Holroyd) Mayers.
Naomi was employed in various positions over her lifetime including steelworker at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, and upon her retirement head of housekeeping at Isla del Sol Resort in St. Petersburg, FL. She was a member of the Unity of St. Petersburg Church.
Naomi was an avid reader with great interest in a wide range of topics. Known for her sharp wit and dry sense of humor she was nonetheless a kind soul and always a champion of the underdog. She shared a love of nature with her husband Jim.
In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, James Hunt in May of 2021; sisters, Wanda Roberts, and Eleanor Carmack; brothers, Wilson, Charles, Donald, and twin brother David.
Surviving are three daughters, Stephanie Cunningham of SC, Valerie Cribbs of VA, and Vickie (Steven) Eversole of MI; two grandchildren, Kevin (Lyla) Graziano and their son, great-grandson, Carter of Amsterdam, OH, and Delaney Cribbs of VA; three stepsons, James Hunt, Jr. of Mingo Jct., OH, Larry (Chris) Hunt and John Hunt both of Toronto; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Vernon) Beegle of Weirton, WV; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Friday Oct. 8, 2021, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto from 10 to 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11. Naomi’s stepson, Larry Hunt, will officiate. Naomi and her husband Jim will be laid to rest together in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
