Patricia Elizabeth “Tish” Herdman Meyer Rasor, age 82, was called home and passed peacefully the morning of August 28, 2023. Her family was able to say their goodbyes in her final days while she was a resident at Avalon Assisted Living & Memory Care – Lewis Center, OH.
Tish was born on September 28, 1940, the daughter of Ralph “Pop” and Alice Herdman. She was a lifelong resident of Toronto, Ohio, graduated from Toronto High School, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she also volunteered. Tish was a devoted and loving Wife to Fred (dec’d 1969) and later to Dick (dec’d 2015), Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother to her family.
Tish was preceded in death by brother, Larry Herdman, husband, R. Frederick Meyer, parents, Ralph “Pop” and Alice Chandler Herdman, grandson, David Rasor, and husband Richard D. Rasor. She is survived by sons, Fred (Deana) Meyer of Powell, OH, Chris (Eliza) Meyer of Tampa, FL, Rick Rasor of San Antonio, TX, and daughter, Wendy (Larry) Estep of Columbus, OH, 17 Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Grandchildren.
Tish loved her hometown of Toronto. She cherished her deeply-rooted friendships. From her front porch at “411”, she thoroughly enjoyed engaging with and sharing stories of past memories, many times resulting in a great deal of laughter. The front porch was her spot for all family gatherings, especially the 4th of July. Children and grandchildren always enjoyed the traditions of the parade, front yard games, cookouts, and the annual T-town fireworks display. Tish enjoyed golfing with her many friends at Steubenville Country Club and in Naples, FL where she and Dick spent many winters.
Tish’s family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the exceptional Caregivers, “Her Girls”, whose special love and care for Tish, allowed her family to grant Mom’s wish of staying in her home as long as possible. Additionally, her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the caring staff of Avalon Assisted Living & Memory Care - Lewis Center, along with the Suncrest Hospice team. And lastly, J.E. Foster Funeral Home, in seamlessly getting Mom “Home to Toronto” from Columbus.
Tish’s family plans for a future memorial service at a time when family is able to convene.
Contributions may be made in Tish’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Toronto First Presbyterian Church.
