Paul Edwin Parker of Toronto, OH, entered into eternal rest on January 7, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH, from complications of COVID-19.
He was a son of the late, Donald and Margaret Green Parker born on August 9, 1936.
Paul was a gifted 3 sport athlete, graduating in 1954 from Jefferson Union High School. He continued his athletic career at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina coached by Bo Schembechler as well as at Ohio University.
He married his high school sweetheart, Bette Ann Cable Parker on August 17, 1957 and they were married for 63 years. Paul was a member of Hilltop Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and a charter member of Island Creek Mariners. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #583, Scottish Rite of Steubenville, and The Shriners.
Paul retired from the Carpenters Local #186, and the Jefferson County JVS as an instructor. His passions included caring for and raising registered Morgan horses, woodworking, building houses, and gardening, but his greatest passion was enjoying his family. He rarely missed an athletic or academic event in which his family participated.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his 2 daughters, Lynn (David) Meyer and Dr. Paula (Stephen) Deuley; grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Meyer, Caleb (Kerri) Meyer, Dr. Stephanie (fiancé Nathan) Deuley, Jordon Meyer, Alex (Pat) Leimkuehler, Hannah Meyer, Rebecca (fiancé Tyler) Deuley, Parker Deuley, and Jacob Deuley; great grandchildren, Sydney, Addison, Charlotte, Bode, and Evelynn. Preceding him in death are his siblings Ronnie Parker, Bill Parker and Janet Holmes-Mieselwitz.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, January 10 from 2 PM to 5 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A private service will follow with Rev. Bob Meyer and Rev. Jane Schockey, and burial will take place at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
